Safeguarding at St Johns
At St John’s C.E. (A) Primary School we aim to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for all the children where each child’s welfare is paramount. The atmosphere in school is one that encourages all children to achieve their full potential. We have a duty of care to safeguard and promote the well being of all children.
We take this responsibility very seriously and have systems in place to ensure that no child suffers harm at school or at home.
Staff receive regular training in Child Protection Level 1 every 3 years and look at the Stoke on Trent safeguarding website every term. Additional training at level 2 and level 3 is undertaken by selected staff.
All staff (including teaching and non teaching staff, temporary staff, extended school staff, governors, cleaners and visiting staff) have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. All are expected to follow school procedures and policies at all times.
Copies of all our safeguarding procedures and guidance can be accessed on the school website or obtained on request from the school office.
Preventing unsuitable people fro m working with children is a key responsibility and the school has a robust rigorous and selection policy and follow the Safer Recruitment policy and guidelines provided by Stoke on Trent local authority.
